Chrome extension

The reader from the Linkwise app is now in Chrome. Press Option+R on an article and the page around it goes away - the newsletter box, the eleven related stories, the bar that follows you down the page - and what is left is the piece you came to read, set the way you like to read.

What's New

• Read anything, your way: Nine typefaces including OpenDyslexic, text from 12 to 32 points, line spacing and column width you set by dragging, and ragged or justified text. Eight themes, four for daylight and four for night - Paper, Sand, Aloe, Frost, Ash, Pitch, Deep and Cosmos - and Linkwise remembers your light choice and your dark one separately, so switching between them never costs you either.

• Your highlights are already on it: Open the reader on an article you have highlighted before and the marks are there. Select a passage and the usual toolbar opens over it - pick a colour, add a note, copy it, or ask AI about it in the side panel beside the article. Nothing new to learn: it is the toolbar you already use, on a page that is finally quiet.

• Pick sentences instead of dragging: Smart highlighting works in the reader now, the same way it does on a page - hold your key, click the sentences you want, let go, and they arrive at the usual toolbar as one highlight.

• One link, one tap: Follow a link out of an article and you land in the reader again, not on the raw page - Linkwise checks the destination first, so a video, an app or a search result still opens the way it always did.

• Read only the words, if you want: Two switches in the settings menu turn the article's links and its images off. The links keep their words and stop pulling your eye sideways the pictures come back the moment you want them.

• Find your way around a long piece: Contents lists the article's own headings, and a line across the top shows how far in you are. Come back to a saved article later, on this computer or on your phone, and it opens where you stopped.

• Four ways in: In Settings, you can set a click on any bookmark in your library to open the reader straight away.

What's New

• Decide what opens the toolbar: Under Settings > Highlights, Show the toolbar now takes three answers: on any selection, only while you hold Option (Alt on Windows), or only while you hold Command (Ctrl). Choose a key and ordinary selecting stays ordinary, with nothing appearing over your work. Hold the key as you select, or tap it once you have, which is also how you highlight a selection made with Shift and the arrow keys. Highlights you already made still open on a click, whichever setting you pick.

• Highlight by the sentence, without dragging: Switch on Smart Highlighting, hold your key, and the sentence under your cursor lights up behind the words, so you can see exactly what you are about to take. Click to keep it, click again to drop it, and carry on gathering sentences from anywhere in the article. It reads prose properly: Dr. Bell, 3.30 p.m. and the U.S. figures do not end a sentence.

• A calmer library: Cards, menus and dialogs now separate themselves by colour rather than by outlines, corners are consistent throughout, and a bookmark in the grid shows a clear edge when you hover or select it, thumbnail or no thumbnail.

• Update Nudge: Any update on the extension will be informed now on upfront, unlike updating it silently in the background which happens by default on chrome.

Improvements & Fixes

• AI Chat fixes: Empty chat was being created earlier when user opens a chat with library, fixed now!

• Mentioning a Collection: some UI imrovements on the chat input text field, earlier it was causing collection tags to appear twice.

There is one paid plan no longer. Pro is the librarian half - the saving, the limits, the imports and the inboxes. Pro + AI is that plus everything that thinks: chat, insights, and search by meaning. 1.0.4 teaches the extension the difference, and brings your feed subscriptions in and out along the way.

What's New

• Pro and Pro + AI: Pro gives you unlimited bookmarks, collections and feeds, bookmark and feed import, full export, Notion and Obsidian sync, and your own @inbox.linkwise.app address. Pro + AI adds Ask AI at every scope, insights on every link, search by meaning and 3,000 chat credits a month. Free stays what it was: 5 collections, 10 bookmarks in each, and 3 feeds.

• Bring Your Feeds With You: Export your subscriptions from Feedly, Inoreader, NetNewsWire, Reeder or anything else that speaks OPML, drop the file into Settings, and Linkwise tells you how many feeds it found and how many folders before it subscribes to anything. Subscribing runs on our servers, so you can close the window and it carries on. Feeds you already follow are skipped, and the ones that could not be reached are named rather than silently dropped.

• And Take Them Out Again: One button gives you your whole subscription list as an OPML file any reader can open. Your bookmarks, collections, insights and conversations still export as a ZIP the feeds come out beside them, in the format feed readers actually want.

• Softer, Straighter Corners: One corner radius across every surface, with nested corners drawn so an inner edge never curves harder than the shell around it. The highlight toolbar that appears over an article follows the same rule now, instead of its own.

• Small Things: A pinned bookmark shows it in the list without waiting for a hover. Saving a single link from a page of links now prints that link's address under the button, so you can see which one you are about to save.

What's New

• Ask AI About Anything You've Saved : Ask about the page you're reading, a whole collection, or your entire library. Type @ to pull a collection into the question. Answers cite the bookmarks they came from. Single-page questions are free; collection and library-wide questions are Pro.

• Answers You Can Use : Ask for a quiz, flashcards, a report, or a mind map, and get one back, not just text.

• Explorable Mind Maps : Drag to pan, scroll to zoom, click any node to see what's behind it, and fold branches away to see the shape without the detail.

• The Side Panel : Press Ctrl+Shift+L (⌘⇧L on Mac) and Linkwise opens beside the page instead of over it, so you can read and ask about it at the same time. Drag the edge to resize.

• Your Inbox Address, in the Extension : Claim, rename, or copy your @inbox.linkwise.app address without opening the app. Same address everywhere change it in one place, it updates in both. Pro.

• Search Your Conversations : Type in:conversation (or in:chats) to search past AI threads, their messages, and the bookmarks they're about.

• Clearer Empty States : An empty Emails list now tells you why (usually: inbox not yet enabled) and lets you fix it on the spot.

• A Smoother-Scrolling Library : Thumbnails reserve their space before loading, images fade in instead of popping in, and the next page loads ahead of time. Most noticeable with large libraries.
